It has been a busy week for Year 6 in their penultimate week at Cragside. In English, the children have finished reading the novel The Unforgotten Coat and have written a summary about the book and the characters. They have also moved on to their next short unit of work in English - amazing inventions. In Maths, the children have been revising time intervals, looking at ancient Maths methods and problems, as well as tessellating shapes. In Art, the children have created incredibly detailed water colour paintings of dragon eyes. The children also enjoyed their PE transition afternoon at the JLV on Monday where they got to take part in different sporting activities and meet the JLV teachers and children from other schools. Finally, the children have begun to reflect on their time at Cragside in Year 6 by writing about their year in school and preparing for their leavers' service next week. We look forward to welcoming our Year 6 parents and grandparents to our service which starts at 9am on Friday. This week Year 5 have been finishing their last wow write which has been a suspense story where they watched a spooky video and rewrote the plot using their own ideas. They included a range of exciting writing tools to draw in the reader and used a range of challenging vocabulary to keep the reader hooked. In maths, the children have been learning about percentages and have been linking percentages with fractions as well as finding percentages of money. The children have also spent some time this week looking back over all they have achieved this year and what they are looking forward to in Year 6. We have brought these ideas together and practised singing our songs for the celebration assembly on Wednesday. We hope to see you there!
