Safer Internet Day – Tuesday 6th February 2018

27th January 2018
Safer Internet Day is celebrated globally in February each year in over a hundred countries to promote the safe and positive use of digital technology for children and young people and inspire a national conversation. Coordinated in the UK by the UK Safer Internet Centre the celebration sees hundreds of organisations get involved to help promote the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology for children and young people.

The day offers the opportunity to highlight positive uses of technology and to explore the role we all play in helping to create a better and safer online community. Internet safety is an ongoing dialogue with children in school and we share many messages with children about staying safe on line. Having on-going, honest conversations with children, both at home and school helps us all to keep our children safe whilst they are on-line.

To support with this, the UK Safer Internet Centre have provided a range of conversations starters, which we have attached to this newsletter, which you may find useful to use. You will also find a lot more information in the Parent/Carer tab on the website: www.saferinternet.org.uk
