Year 3 have enjoyed learning about our world cup countries, Switzerland, Columbia, Brazil & Costa Rica. The children researched the countries and found out about where they are, which languages are spoken there, the currency, the climate, what the flags are like and much more. In English the children focused on one of the countries. They watched tourism videos and made notes. They used these to create a piece of descriptive writing using their senses to describe the setting. In Maths we have been learning the bus stop method for division. The children have worked hard on this and have even started using the method to solve problems. In RE the children learned about Islamic Art. The children found out how to write their names in Arabic and created a decorated example of this.
This week in Year 4 we have completed our work on The Iron Man which ended with us writing a story in the same style. We have then started to think about poetry about nature and how we can best perform it thinking carefully about our audience. In maths we have spent time revising our written methods for addition and subtraction and have shown real confidence. We have been busy creating our Norman Castles with moving parts as well as thinking about Portuguese patterns and Russian buildings as part of our International work linked to the World Cup. We are very excited for the summer fayre next week and have been busy preparing our own plant pots to sell on Tuesday afternoon.
