Key Stage 1 News

13th July 2018
This week Year 1 visited Northumberland Zoo. We had an awesome day and the Year 1 team were so proud of how well the children behaved. We watched a bird of prey display, met the lemurs, learned about the meerkats and found out about lots more animals. In Maths we have been adding and subtracting 2- digit and 1-digit numbers. We are getting so good at solving these mentally! In English we continued to find out about different jobs using non-fiction books. We wrote about a day in the life of an astronaut, and made a fact file about a children’s author. We also celebrated all of the children’s achievements in our celebration assembly. Thank you all for coming to show your support! Next week in our last week together we will have a science focus! The grown-ups have some super experiments planned! Year 2 have had a very reflective week thinking of all we have learned and all we have enjoyed throughout our time in Year 2. We spent time writing our own contributions for our annual reports which the children are really looking forward to reading! On Thursday we enjoyed one of our favourite parts of the year-celebrating all of our achievements in our end of year celebration assembly! Thank you so much to all those who came along to celebrate with us; it was a really special morning. We decided that we would focus our Maths this week introducing some of the Maths we will be learning in Year 3 to give the children a real flying start! The children completely rose to the challenge and worked incredibly well. We are really looking forward to our last week in Year 2 where we will be completing our pizza project in the Create room! Mrs Pringle is excited to be spending the first three days of next week with her new class at Fordley Primary but will be delighted to come back to her Cragside family on Thursday and Friday to end the year with her lovely class.
