British Science Week 2016

22nd March 2016
British Science Week

We have certainly enjoyed celebrating British Science here at Cragside this week, and we have been exceptionally blessed to have had some special guests visit our school throughout week to deliver some fantastic Science across the school. The children have experienced a vast array of activities. Years 4 and 5 had great fun on Tuesday making rockets, where they then launched them on the school field and measured the flight distance. On Wednesday and Thursday the children enjoyed learning about, and handling different animals from snakes and tree frogs, to lizards and rats! Today, our Year 5 children enjoyed learning about the water cycle. Other activities have included making strange potions using vinegar, and exploring living things within the local environment. Please take a moment to check out our Twitter Page to see this Science fun in action! Thank you to all of our guests, who made such a valuable contribution to our Science Week here at Cragside. Thank you to Mr. Armstrong and guests from Merck Sharp & Dohme for planning and delivering the Rocket Launchers. Thank you to Steve from Party Animals for bringing your zoo to our school! Thank you to Mr. Tucker, from Northumbrian Water, for your informative session on the Water Cycle. Many thanks to Yulia’s mum for delivering a wonderful session on forces today, with Mrs Pringle’s class in Year 2.
