Football Cragside v Seaton Sluice

7th October 2019

Cragside 7 - 4 Seaton Sluice
Match Report from Mr Beck Another fantastic performance and another 3 points for the Year 5 and 6 boys’ team on Monday this week as Cragside hosted Seaton Sluice in their third league game of the season. Cragside started strongly when Lewis scored the first of an impressive 5 goals before adding his and Cragside's second a couple of minutes later. Seaton Sluice attempted to make use of their height advantage throughout the game by hitting the ball forward but it was expertly dealt with by Olly A, Lucas W, Jim and Lucas M who all played well in defence. Seaton Sluice did however mange a first half goal before Luke restored the 2 goal lead with a lovely finish that set Cragside on a goal scoring run which would see Lewis score his third and fourth goal with a goal for Olly L making it a comfortable 6-1. Cragside could have been many more ahead with Shea hitting the woodwork twice and having a goal disallowed for offside. Will, Olly Q, Enes and Harrison all made their presence known in midfield with some excellent passing as Cragside continued to push Seaton Sluice. However Seaton Sluice managed a second goal on the break before Lewis added his fifth and Cragside's seventh goal of the game. An unfortunate bounce lead to a handball in the penalty box leaving the poor referee no choice but to award a penalty for Seaton Sluice which Riley was just unable to get his hand to. They rounded off the game with a goal in the last second to finish the game 7-4. Special thanks again to Olly Q and Riley for volunteering to play in goal! Next up for Cragside is Dr Thomlinson Middle School (away at Rothbury) on Monday.
